Of Course, Flowers!

I worked with Mafwa Theatre and Kuluhenna Drama Group to document the journey towards Of Course, Flowers!, a performance created for Refugee Week 2026. The project brought together women from the community through regular drama sessions, exploring identity, culture, relationships, memories and belonging

The cover here shows the journey including all milestones of the project, from Drama Sessions to Mafwa Midsummer Festival, from Music Studio to Zine Making workshop and so on. The flowers come together to form a map of this journey.

I attended the Kuluhenna drama sessions at the Angler’s Club, documenting the sessions through live illustration and visual notes. I focused on capturing the people and the atmosphere of the sessions, as well as the small conversations, moments of connection, movement and creative process that happened along the way.

As part of the project, I also designed and hosted a zine-making workshop with the group. The workshop was simple and accessible for participants with different levels of English and no previous art experience. Through prompts around identity, home, feelings, music, flowers, memories and hopes, participants responded through writing, drawing, collage and conversation.

I gathered participant reflections through informal conversations and a follow-up creative feedback form, asking about their experiences, feelings, support, pride, togetherness and what they would carry forward from the project. These responses became an important part of the final publication, allowing the participants' own words and perspectives to shape the story.

I brought all of this material together into a printed and digital zine documenting the project from beginning to end.

The final publication combines my illustrations, photography, participant writing and reflections, collage, handmade elements, Indian block printing and experimental Riso printing to create a personal record of the people, stories and moments behind

Of Course, Flowers!.
